Be daring, be different, study German!
HUDS Academy Honors German 1 is a two semester introductory course and there is no prerequisite. This course includes basic vocabulary, parts of speech, basic grammar, pronunciation, and Germanic culture. Various media types will be used to assist instruction. It is an excellent language to learn because over a hundred million people speak German as their first language and millions more speak it as a second language. It is the national language of Germany and Austria and is one of the four national languages of Switzerland. Germany is currently the fourth largest economy in the world and is predicted to remain a dominant economy for the foreseeable future. Students, who are later in college or in the work place, may also combine the study of the German language with study of business, law, trade, science, engineering, technology, ministry, tourism, politics, or music to provide excellent career opportunities for themselves. Students who study German 1 learn the basics of the language and equip themselves for placement in the HUDS Honors German 2 course. Total enrollment for this course is limited to only 18 students! This course is tuition-free. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages equivalent level for this course is A1-A2.

Important notice about German 1 for the 2023-2024 school year!
HUDS Academy will no longer be offering Honors German 1 starting Fall 2023. Honors German 2, 3, and 4 will still be offered. Herr Hägele is starting a slow slide into a second retirement and HUDS Academy will turn out the lights and close the classroom door for the last time on Tuesday May 5, 2026.
